    PLEASE NOTE BEFORE APPLYING:

Your day to day duties will vary based on which position you are hired for.  However, please be aware that the positions that we hire for are the main duty of the employee, but camp is always an “all hands on deck” job.  All positions will be expected to assist with meals, cleaning, and other various duties such as serving in the canteen.  Main jobs only consist of about a quarter to half of your time on staff and the rest is made up of other assigned tasks, as generally outlined below.

What position(s) are you applying for?

    • General lifeguard duties include: Make sure gate is locked after swim times. Oversee all swim times and be available for baptisms as needed.   Enforce pool rules during swims. (i.e. no running, no dunking, diving etc…)  Evacuate swim areas during severe weather.  Keep the pool & lake area clean, organized and free of trash.  Pool must be cleaned/vacuumed daily and will be the rotated job of all lifeguards.

Lifeguards will have additional duties of helping in the dining hall to set up, serve, and clean up after meals.  All staff will assist with daily camp clean up (checking cabins/dorms, cleaning bathrooms, and restocking necessary items), and end of camp turn around to prepare for the next session.

      PLEASE NOTE:
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE CERTIFIED WHEN YOU APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.

Most of our guards get certified after they've been hired.  Many go through their local YMCA, so that's a great place to start.  Many local pools/aquatic centers also do certifications.  Also check with any colleges in your area - if they have a pool, they probably do certifications. We prefer for you to try to be certified before camp begins, but we know that with everything going on, this may not be possible. If we need to, we have the ability to certify our guards on site during training week.
